Scuba Diving in Cyprus
Those who want the most invigorating experience possible need to scuba dive in Cyprus. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there is a dive site for you in Cyprus. We will cover all of the options below. Even if you don’t scuba dive and you have friends or family who are interested in going, you can tag along and snorkel, take pictures or read a book. The beauty alone makes these worthwhile trips.
If you’re a beginner, the first place to dive is at Green Bay, Protaras. This is an easy and safe dive site that almost always offers perfect weather and crystal clear water. If you have children who are interested in scuba diving, this is a great way to get them started. It’s also an excellent option for anyone who hasn’t dived in a while and needs something simple to get them back into the groove. Those who choose to dive will find unique fish and underwater sculptures.
Green Bay 2 is slightly more challenging. This is a great dive site for people who want to explore underwater caves. One of these caves has earned the name “Blue Hole” because of the way the light shines through it when the sun is out. It’s a gorgeous site. If you want to feel like you’re truly living, it’s highly recommended. The rest of Green Bay 2 is also gorgeous. Many people like to swim over the rock structures.
The Cliffs is best for those who want to go deep diving. There are many neat features about this dive site. One is the different types of deep crevices in the rock face, which lead to viewing opportunities of many different types of marine life. Another neat feature is the natural safety stop on a sandy ramp.
Sea Caves is just like it sounds. This site is different from Green Bay 2, though, because the caves are at shallow depths. This allows for more exploration time. When you’re through, you can also eat lunch at a table next to the lunch truck.
The Chapel is only recommended for those who are ready for full scuba gear and very deep dives. This is also a big tourist spot, and for good reason. Even if you’re not diving, it’s worth a visit thanks to its natural beauty.
If you want to dive a half-sunken ship with 100 trucks and a lot of marine life, visit Zenobia, Larnaca. This is only for expert divers.
